THE CASCADE® PROCESS:
The CASCADE® Autologous Platelet System is a single-use, disposable kit designed for point-of-care preparation of Platelet Rich Fibrin Membrane (PRFM). It contains all necessary components to extract and concentrate a patient’s platelets and associated growth factors from a small sample of blood, utilizing readily available technologies that eliminate special handling and cold chain requirements.
Here is a step-by step look into how it works:
1.
BLOOD COLLECTION
A small sample of your blood is drawn and placed in an FDA-approved, sterile, disposable container.

PRP ISOLATION
This container is then placed in a specialized centrifuge. The blood undergoes its initial spin in the centrifuge, a process that takes approximately 6 minutes, effectively separating the whole blood sample into layers: platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and red blood cells. The PRP layer is then carefully extracted.
3.
PRFM MATRIX FORMATION
The isolated PRP is then placed back into the centrifuge and spun for an additional 25 minutes. This second centrifugation process forms a platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM). This PRFM acts as a natural scaffold, ensuring sustained and targeted delivery of growth factors to the treatment site.

GROWTH FACTOR RELEASE
The CASCADE® system facilitates optimal healing through the PRFM's sustained release of growth factors. After application to the wound, the PRFM gradually releases these growth factors for up to 7 days, promoting tissue regeneration, reducing inflammation, and accelerating the healing process.
